Wikidata is a structured, multilingual knowledge base that connects and enriches Wikipedia and other projects. Volunteer editors contribute to its growth, enabling machines to interpret human knowledge while expanding accessibility across languages and platforms.

Case Study: Voice Assistants and the Global Web
When you ask a voice assistant who won the Nobel Prize in Literature or when a historical event occurred, there’s a good chance it draws on data from Wikidata. In 2024, thanks to Endowment support, Wikidata passed 2 billion edits and launched a user-friendly portal to onboard more contributors. These advances are helping keep Wikimedia’s content discoverable and useful across platforms, languages, and devices.
